One Step Forward for “EU4Civil Society: Energy Efficiency in Armenian Communities”  project


On March 27, the official signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the National Social Housing Association Foundation (ASBA) and Tavush Municipality was held within the framework “EU4Civil Society: Energy Efficiency in Armenian Communities” (EU4CS.EEAC) project funded by European Union.

The MoU was signed by Tavush Marz Governor Hovik Abovyan and ASBA Foundation General Director Ara Nazinyan. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governors Levon Sargsyan and Karen Adamyan, and also Tavush Municipality Chief of Staff Arman Gevorgyan. 

Tavush Marz Governor Hovik Abovyan opened the ceremony with a welcome speech and brought his gratitude to ASBA Foundation for including Tavush Marz in the project. He also highlighted the importance of the implementation of such project in the region, noting that it will take to another step forward in the strategy of further cooperation with ASBA Foundation in the field of energy efficiency.

ASBA Foundation Director Ara Nazinyan presented the project goals to the participants, by remarking that it would contribute to the development of energy efficiency culture in the communities and the reduction of energy poverty of households.  He also added that through this project, ASBA foundation together with its partners would improve the lives of people in the rural communities.

Due to this project, local NGOs and media outlets would  be able to work with active citizens groups in urban and rural communities, by introducing energy efficiency methods and up-to-date information on their proper use. They would also support these community groups to identify their energy challenges and address them via community-based energy efficiency projects.




ASBA Foundation, in partnership with German “Housing Initiative for Eastern Europe” (IWO), Czech "SEVEn z.u. - Energy Saving Center and Dutch Energie-U organizations, is implementing EU4Civil Society: Energy Efficiency in Armenian Communities (EU4CS.EEAC) project funded by the European Union. The project is implemented in five marzes of Armenia: Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Kotayk and Ararat. The project aims to develop capacity of non-governmental organizations and mass media in the process of overcoming the energy poverty.
